Even with all the constant "hype" surrounding "cloud", there are numerous questions that keep many confused. In most technical circles, cloud computing has become the norm. The ones that are left in the dark are supposed to just accept it as the perfect solution without understanding what is going on.
In my opinion, the cloud provides the perfect place to park our "demystifytec" journey. There is an overly abundant amount of tech jargon that makes the whole concept confusing. Additionally, the terms are used inconsistently. Did I mention that everything is an acronym?
Case and point: Virtualization
According to techopedia.com, "Virtualization means creating something virtual or artificial, rather than the actual version." Does that mean I can have an artificial hard drive?
Virtualization is one of the easier terms to explain. Years ago, most of the music we enjoyed was on a physical cd, record, or tape, or 8-track(lol). Then, we were able to put an image of that music on a mp3 player or even online. In that case, the music was virtualized.
Virtually finished until next time...
